Abstract :
This work examined radio as an indispensable tool in promoting indigenous Yoruba culture in select local governments in Lagos State, Nigeria” The general objective is to find out the level of awareness of radio programmes towards promoting Yoruba culture in Nigeria. The work was anchored on Cultural motivation theory. The methodology is a survey. The population is 3,753,800 from the select local government in Lagos. The sample size is 400. Data were analysed using the SPSS 25.0 version. The data were presented descriptively using tables, frequencies, percentages, and narratives. The respondents have moderate awareness of cultural programmes in the radio station used. Respondents perceived Yoruba programmes positively and as a means of promoting culture. The study suggests more radio content diversifications that promote cultural benefits should be featured more frequently. More parents need to push for indigenous languages in the school curriculum to promote Yoruba culture.
